Andropause

The andropause is also knows as the male menopause. It occurs often between the ages of 40 to 55 years old, when men can perceive symtomps similar to menopause although it does not show a characteristic point as the period interruption to define this step.

In the level occurs a decrease in the testosterone (hormone) and thereby changes occur very gradually in men. The man experiences a gradual decline in their gonadal function, characterized by decreased rate of testosterone and sperm production.

  • There is no way to predict who will have the symtomps of androupause tha makes it necessary to seek for medical help, not even the exact age when the symtomps will occur. Some exams helps the verification of androupause such as blood exams to check the testosterone index, semen analysis to check the production of sperm, examination touch, bone densitometry and ultrasound prostate and abdomen.

  • The hormonal reposition can only be done with a physician monitoring and can be done through pills via oral, bumper skin or instramuscular injection. With this, the man will have a delay in the osteoporose, improved sexual performance, mprovement of neurological disorders and therefore improvement in their quality of life as a whole. The replacement is contraindicated for patients known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate, breast cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia and liver problems.

  • To help, the man must mostly in the time, restrict his diet the colestherol and the sugar, and eat foods with higher content of salts and vitamins like vegetables and fruits.

  • In February 2006 the Brazilian Society of Urology published a consensus establishing parameters for the diagnosis and treatment of male hormone deficiency, which was called then Androgen Disorders of Aging Male (ADAM).
  • The document text admits that male hormone replacement is still subject to controversy. It questions from the actual existence of the problem to the specific need of hormone replacement.
